The RTTK upgrade system is a crucial facet of the ongoing Road to the Knockouts event in EA Sports FC 24, closely mirroring the structure of its predecessor in FC 24. As the group phases of the UEFA Champions League (UCL), UEFA Europa League (UEL), and UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) unfold, the RTTK event takes center stage, introducing a dynamic upgrade mechanism for selected players.

Initially, players chosen for the RTTK promotion receive a one-time stat upgrade, providing a significant boost to their in-game performance. However, the innovation lies in the potential for further enhancements, contingent upon the achievements of the players’ respective clubs during the latter stages of the competitions and their success in the group stages.

The current batch of RTTK cards comprises a notable lineup of 46 players, spanning the upper echelons of European football. Among the featured players are standout names such as Eric Haaland from Manchester City, the goal-scoring sensation, Luis Diaz from Liverpool, and notably, for the first time, representation from the women’s game.

Securing a spot on the RTTK roster is a coveted distinction, with selected players entering the realm of “live” cards, capable of undergoing multiple upgrades beyond the initial boost. The upgrade process is facilitated through two “In-Form Upgrades” for men’s players and an additional upgrade for women due to the extended qualifying period of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Players become eligible for an upgrade to their RTTK cards under the following conditions:

1. The RTTK player’s team successfully qualifies for the knockout round of the respective tournament (round of last 16 in the UCL / round of last 32 in the UEL & UECL).
2. The RTTK player’s team secures victories in two of their remaining group stage games in the respective tournament.
3. The team of an RTTK player qualifies for the group phase of the UEFA Women’s Champions League during the second qualifying round (Women only).

Conversely, RTTK players will not receive a boost if:

1. The RTTK player’s team is eliminated from the respective tournament.
2. The player undergoes a change of club.
3. The RTTK player’s team qualifies for the UEFA Europa League by finishing third in their UEFA Champions League group.

For those eagerly anticipating the upgrades, the timeline for RTTK cards to go live follows a predictable pattern. If an RTTK player qualifies for an upgrade in their respective UEFA competition, the enhancement occurs at the end of each week (typically on Fridays). This timing aligns with the completion of all matchday matches in the three UEFA competitions. While there is no precise hour for the upgrades, historical data indicates that the improvements materialize shortly after the conclusion of the RTTK players’ respective matches, once the results have been determined. The anticipation and excitement surrounding these upgrades add an extra layer of engagement to the Road to the Knockouts event, as players eagerly await the transformation of their chosen stars in EA Sports FC 24.
